SOTA - first chaser points

Getting my first successful chaser points for Summits on the Air (SOTA)

SOTA Chasing

With the end of the 3rd and longest COVID lockdown in England, SOTA is beginning to start up again. I'm lucky enough to live close to a SOTA summit. G/SC-010 Dundry Down - which overlooks my home city of Bristol. Whilst I haven't managed to get out and up a summit just yet (it's going to happen soon though), there I was this fine Saturday morning with my SDR tuned into 2m.

First SOTA QSO

Someone was up on Dundry calling CQ SOTA. So I quickly swapped by HT antenna for the Dual band flower pot antenna and replied. We made the QSO, I was the fifth in his log, so he'd activated the summit by this point, we exchanged signal reports - 59 which is no surprise as you can see my QTH from the summit and said 73s.

So there we go, I have a SOTA chaser point in the log and motivation to get up Dundry and call CQ SOTA for myself.
